Glenn Maxwell, Short Ball, Australia

After a mini break from the game, Glenn Maxwell has hit the ground running in the ongoing Big Bash League. The Australia star had taken a six-week break from the professional game in order to deal with his mental health reasons. He had taken the break during the T20I series against Sri Lanka in October. Consequently, he missed the white-ball leg of the home series against Pakistan.

But he did not take long to return to action and has been in red-hot form for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League. He started the competition with a stunning knock of 83 off just 30 balls in his team’s impressive win over Brisbane Heat. In the following game, he failed to get going with the bat but made amends by picking up 2 wickets for just 15 runs.

On Friday, he impressed with the bat again as he smashed a 25-ball 43 laced with four sixes and a boundary against Adelaide Strikers. And the best moment of his knock came when he launched an outrageous shot to hit Wes Agar for a stunning six. He played the breathtaking shot when Agar was bowling the 16th over of the innings.

Adelaide Strikers win thriller:

Talking about the match, Glenn Maxwell’s knock went in vain as Adelaide Strikers beat Melbourne Stars by four runs. Chasing 175, the Stars needed 12 runs from the final over. However, Ben Dunk, who played the first five balls, could score only six runs before Adam Zampa scored one on the final delivery as Peter Siddle emerged the hero for the Strikers.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
