This led to an uprise in his ICC Test Rankings as he climbed to the number 2 spot after the first Test alongside Indian skipper Virat Kohli. In the second Test match, Williamson was not a part of the squad as he was expecting the birth of his child. However, the good news came on Wednesday after the second Test had already come to a close.

In the second Test match, New Zealand won by an innings and 12 runs as they captured the two-match series 2-0. Kyle Jamieson won the Man of the Match award for his sheer brilliance with the ball. However, due to Williamson’s non-participation in the second Test, his ICC Test Ranking saw a slight dip as he shifted to the third position in the recently released rankings.
