Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam etched his name in the record books by becoming the fastest batter to reach 5000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He achieved this feat in just 97 innings during the fourth ODI against New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Babar Azam surpassed the previous record-holder, legendary South African batter Hashim Amla, who had achieved this milestone in 101 innings. The Pakistani captain’s 17 centuries and 26 half-centuries in this format make him one of the most consistent batsmen in modern-day cricket. With this achievement, he has overtaken the likes of Sir Viv Richards, Virat Kohli, and Amla.
