Pakistan Announce T20I Squad For The Sri Lanka Series

Pakistan Cricket Team has announced their squad for the upcoming three-match Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka. Chief selector cum head coach Misbah ul Haq has called back Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal in the 16-member team.

The host has made three changed to their ODI squad which is taking on the Sri Lanka team. Apart from Shehzad and Akmal, Faheem Ashraf has also returned to the team for the shortest format of the game. The trio replaces Abid Ali, Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq from the ODI squad.

Imam had to sit out due to an injury he sustained on his left-hand. He is also not a part of the third and the final ODI of the series which is underway today in Karachi. Ahmed Shehzad has made a return to the side on the back of a prolific Pakistan Super League where he scored 311 runs at an average of 51.83.

Umar Akmal, who last played for Pakistan in 2016 also had a good time in the PSL where he came out with vital knocks. He has averaged 34.62 and a strike-rate of 137.12 and will hope to replicate his efforts in the upcoming series which is likely to be his last lifeline.

On the other hand, Faheem Ashraf finished as the second-highest wicket-taker with 21 scalps in the PSL. The young cricketer will look to leave a good impression in front of Misbah ul Haq to return to the ODI and Test squad.

The first of the three-match T20I series will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on October 5. The second and third game is on October 7 and 9 respectively.
