Pakistan Cricket Board to Host Annual Awards Ceremony in Karachi

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to host its annual awards on August 8 (Wednesday). The award ceremony will take place in the Karachi where dignitaries will grace the occasion other than cricketers.
Earlier, PCB started this initiative in 2012, and since then such felicitation programmes are taking place annually. The sole purpose of this ceremony is to honour the cricket of Pakistan. Besides this, such functions inspire players to work hard and reach another level.
The chairman of PCB, Mr Najam Sethi will attend this award ceremony. Moreover, he will also supervise the distribution of awards. Apart from him, many other noted personalities of the country are likely to participate in the much-awaited ceremony.
According to PCB, all the centrally contracted players have been invited. The former skipper of Pakistan, Shahid Afridi is also likely to attend the function.
Players who will miss the ceremony:
However, many senior players are going to miss this particular event. As per reports, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Amir will miss the ceremony. Apart from them, former captain of Pakistan, Azhar Ali will not be present at the award ceremony.
All-rounder Hafeez will miss the ceremony after citing family reasons while as the suspended cricketer, Ahmed Shehzad did not receive an invitation. Pertinently, a top-order batsman, Shehzad has drawn flak after failing the dope test.
On the other side, Ali is busy with the County Cricket in England as he recently signed a contract with English club Somerset. The senior middle-order batsman of Pakistan Malik took micro-blogging website, Twitter to share his message as well.
His Tweet reads, “I am going to miss the PCB Awards in person, but I’ll be there in the spirit of course. Playing for your nation is an honour on its own. This award ceremony is an excellent initiative to recognize and appreciate the hard work cricketers put in day-in-day-out.”

Also, Imran Ahmad Imran, who is the head of player acquisition and management for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be co-hosting this annual awards ceremony organized by Pakistan Cricket Board in Karachi.
The awards will be given away in the following categories; The categories of Best Batsman, Best Emerging Player, Best Bowler, Best Wicket Keeper, Best Coach, Best T20 Player, Best Umpire and Best Referee.
