India and Pakistan have always been red-hot rivalry. It is one of the most-anticipated series’ if not the most. In high voltage affair, both teams look to put their best foot forward. In the 90s, Pakistan were a force to reckon with but gradually India took an upper hand in the bilateral affair. The sub-continent side have also dominated in the World Cups.

However, rivalry aside, both the teams have also developed a bond of friendship over the years. There have been times when both the teams have had dinner together to clicking pictures with each other, having mutual respect. The political ties between both the countries have made the bi-lateral series’ next to impossible to be hosted.

PCB chairman Ehsan Mani has now said that even though they are willing to play, they will not be behind India to play bilateral series.

“I have taken the view, and I have let it be known to the BCCI, that we are always there to play, but we are not going to be running after them. It is their call when they are ready to play, we will be willing to play,” Mani said during a discussion with cricket authors Peter Oborne and Richard Heller in a podcast.

India-Pakistan played their last bi-lateral series in the year 2013 for  2 T20Is and 3 ODIs. The last Test series between the two-rivals was played back in 2007-08 season.

However, at the Asia Cup or ICC events, it has been ensured that India-Pakistan are placed in the same group or play each other at some point of time in the tournament.
