Pakistan legend Zaheer Abbas has hailed Rohit Sharma, saying that he does not move from his television screen whenever the India opener bats. The former cricketer was all praise for Rohit Sharma as he said he is was a huge fan of the opening batsman and loved his technique. Rohit Sharma has been the batting mainstay for Team India for years now.
In 2019, he was India’s best performer in One-Day Internationals. He scored most international runs as an opener in a calendar year in the history of the game. The record was previously held by Sanath Jayasuriya who had achieved the feat way back in 1997. In last year’s World Cup, the right-handed batsman finished the competition as the top run-scorer while scoring a record five centuries.

With 1,490 runs, he also finished the year as the highest run-scorer in ODIs. In the second half of the year, he was promoted as a Test opener and hit the ground running by scoring a century and a double century against South Africa.
“I don’t move from the television screen when he (Rohit) is batting. His batting gives me real satisfaction and watching him play is pure bliss,” admitted Zaheer Abbas in an interview to PTI.
“I admire the way he creates a shot and plays where he wants to. He picks up the ball very early and that is special,” he added.
Why Rohit over Kohli:
Zaheer Abbas also spoke on why he loves Rohit Sharma’s batting more than that of Virat Kohli. The batting legend, who played 78 Tests and 62 ODIs for Pakistan, said that he admires Rohit Sharma because of his batting technique.
“I admire Rohit because I enjoy his batting and when I am watching him bat people in my house ask what about Virat Kohli, and I tell them ‘look I am not saying Kohli is less’. Kohli is Kohli. Let me put it this way, I get satisfaction watching them both bat,” said the former Pakistan cricketer.
