The glittery trophy of the lucrative Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been unveiled.  The ceremony took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday (February 20).

The third edition of PSL T20 is all set to begin from 22nd February in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The professional domestic T2o tournament will have six teams for the first time since 2016. The players are already in the UAE for the third impending edition of the tournament.

The first match will be played between defending Champions Peshawar Zalmi and new entrant Multan Sultans.

The Multan Sultans has been added to the league. The latest franchise has picked up some of the big names in the competition. They have roped in Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard and Kumar Sangakkara in the pre-draft.

Moreover, the team will be coached by former Australian cricketer Tom Moody. Malik will lead the Multan based franchise.

Following the addition of a new team, former cricketers believe this year’s edition will be more competitive.

Six teams will make the tournament more open according to the cricketing pundits.

PSL chief Najam Sethi also addressed a press conference along with Naveed Asghar, Darren Sammy, Shoaib Malik, Imad Wasim, Brendon McCullum, Misbah-ul-Haq and Sarfraz Ahmed.

The opening ceremony will be a star-studded event. It’s bound to feature renowned singers.

The legendary Sufi singer Abida Parveen, American pop star Jason Derulo will enthrall the crowd. Interestingly, the list includes Pakistani heartthrobs in the form of Ali Zafar and Shehzad Roy.

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi said he is grateful to see quality players participating in the league.

Sethi maintains, “Today is a big day for the Pakistan cricket as the third edition of the PSL is being introduced to the lovers of cricket after the success of two previous editions of the event.”
