Cricket can be funny at times. The recent episode to register in the funny incidents list is the Azhar Ali’s bizarre run-out against Australia in the ongoing second Test in Abu Dhabi. It was one of the weird dismissals ever to take part in the game of cricket. Meanwhile, it served as the fodder for the Twitterati to poke fun.

It has happened during the 53rd over on the day three of the second Test of Pakistan vs Australia 2018. Azhar Ali, who was batting on 64 attempted a booming drive off Peter Siddle’s delivery that took the thick edge of the willow.

Peter Siddle wasn’t impressed, as the ball flew in between the gully and the slip cordon. Including both batsmen, the bowler and also the spectators thought that the ball had raced away to the boundary, which wasn’t the case.

Azhar Ali walks back with Agony:

Surprisingly, the ball does not have enough legs to reach the fence, which stopped a couple of inches to the boundary. Mitchell Starc, who was after the ball threw it to the skipper Tim Paine, who removed the bails gleefully.

Both the batsmen were in shock while Australians celebrated the wicket. Meanwhile, Mickey Arthur’s expression in the dugout summed up the entire story in the middle. In the meantime, it instantly tickled the funnier bone of the fans as well.

Coming to the status of the game, Pakistan is pretty much in the driving seat with the bulk of runs in their kitty. At the time of lunch break, they were leading with 369 runs with Babar Azam and Asad Shafiq batting on 34* and 42*, respectively.
