In the 53rd over of the Pakistan second innings, the casual approach of Azhar Ali cost him his wicket. Ali got a thick outside edge that went through the gully region towards the third man boundary. However, Ali and Babar Azam thought that the ball has reached the boundary ropes. In fact, the ball had stopped just a couple of yards before the boundary cushions.

Consequently, Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc threw the ball to captain Tim Paine who didn’t waste any time in dislodging the bails. Therefore, Ali was stunned and had to pay the price for his casual approach. It was a schoolboy stuff from the experienced Pakistan batsman and it is not acceptable at the topmost level of the game.

In fact, a similar incident had happened between England and India. Ian Bell had played a shot and it also didn’t carry to the boundary ropes. However, Bell went back to the pavilion as the lunch was taken without grounding his bat in the crease.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni took out the bails but the Indian captain showed great sportsmanship as he called back Ian Bell to let him resume his innings.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is in a dominating position in the second Test match. The hosts are currently leading by 338 runs. Pakistan had managed to put 282 runs in the first innings.

Fakhar Zaman and Sarfraz Ahmed had scored 94 each. However, Australia could only make 145 in their first dig. Mohammad Abbas was the chief destroyer as he scalped a five-wicket haul.

Pakistan is currently on 201-4 with a help of Fakhar Zaman’s 66 and Azhar Ali 64. Meanwhile, Azhar Ali’s run out will definitely go down as one of the most bizarre dismissals.
