New Zealand won the third match convincingly of the three-match Test series against Pakistan to seal the series 2-1. Kane Williamson and his boys have done something monumental. A steal at Abu Dhabi a couple of weeks ago and this time a convincing win, this venue has been special for the visitors.
New Zealand was shot down for 274 in the first innings with Bilal Asif claiming five wickets. In reply, Pakistan gained the advantage cruising to 286 for three. However, Pakistan collapsed to 348 runs after some poor shots from their batsmen.
New Zealand had a substantial lead of 198 runs going into the final day’s play. They batted just nine overs in the day – scoring 81 and setting Pakistan a target of 280. Nicholas took the attack to the opposition after reach the three-figure mark despite Yasir Shah striking twice in two balls.

Moreover, with a challenging target ahead of Pakistan, one would have expected the hosts to take a safety-first approach. Mohammed Hafeez, who was playing his last innings didn’t last long in the crease. Pakistan lost their top order in quick successions to reel at 55 for the loss of five wickets.
Going into the second session, Sarfraz and Babar decided to attack early on and brought down the runs required below 200. New Zealand bowler Somerville bowled the skipper for 28 which left Babar Azam alone with the tailenders. Babar continued to play and scored a half-century. Babar did fall, just before the Tea break on 51, trying to hit Ajaz over mid-off before the left-arm spinner wrapped things up with ease to clinch a 123-run victory.
