Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) face a tricky task ahead of the next season of IPL in deciding their opener who will open the innings alongside Virat Kohli. Last year, Parthiv Patel had opened the innings with Kohli and did make a big impression. The left-handed batsman was one of Royal Challenger Bangalore’s few positives from an otherwise dismal campaign last year.

The Bangalore-based outfit finished the campaign with the wooden spoon after winning just five of their 14 league games. But unlike the team, Parthiv Patel was a consistent performer during the season. The former Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians batsman finished the campaign with 373 runs. He was the third highest run-scorer for the team.

Parthiv, however, faces a tough task in keeping his place as opener as another Royal Challengers Bangalore Devdutt Padikkal has been in stunning form in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The Karnataka opener has been one of the best performers in the tournament and is currently leading the run-scorer’s chart. In 10 games so far, he has scored 461 runs with the help of one century and four fifties.

Parthiv Patel or Devdutt Padikkal:

It looks like Royal Challengers Bangalore have already started facing problems in deciding one between Parthiv and Padikkal as their opener and their latest Instagram post pretty much makes that clear. The franchise asked the fans on Instagram to choose one between Parthiv and Padikkal as an opener. But in doing so, they came up with a match situation which did not impress Parthiv.

The franchise asked the fans who would they prefer to open the innings alongside Virat Kohli if the target is 240. An unimpressed Parthiv then hilariously asked the franchise why do they want the team to concede as much as 239 in 20 overs.
