Pat Cummins, the fast bowler from Australia, has been among the headlines in the sporting news for his incredible work on the cricket field. Irrespective of the format, Cummins has delivered goods consistently for Australia in the ongoing year. And now, he has added yet another feather to his illustrious hat during the Pink Ball Test against Pakistan in Adelaide.
The flamboyant cricketer became the first and only bowler in 2019 to pick 50 Test wickets. Pat Cummins scaled the feat after he dismissed Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas in the 91st over of the visitors’ first innings after Australia piled on 589 runs batting first. Following the dismissal, he picked the wicket of Yasir Shah to extend his wicket tally.

With 51 Test wickets in 2019, Pat Cummins topped the list for most wickets in the calendar year so far. Stuart Broad followed him in the chart with 38 Test wickets while the in-form Mohammed Shami of India is placed third with 33 wickets. The stats reveal that the fast bowlers have dominated the ongoing year, unlike the last few years.
Meanwhile, speaking about the ongoing Test, Mitchell Starc has been the destructor-in-chief for Australia as he ran through the Pakistan batting line-up to finish with excellent figures of 6/66 in his 25 overs. He was helped by Pat Cummins, who rattled three wickets of Pakistan to help Australia skipper Tim Paine impose a follow-on to the visitors.
In the second innings of Pakistan, Josh Hazlewood joined the party with a couple of wickets alongside Nathan Lyon, who also picked up two wickets. Mitchell Starc also chipped in with one wicket to increase his tally of wickets in the match. Earlier, David Warner scored a scintillating triple century (335) for Australia while Marnus Labuschagne registered the second century on a trot for Australia in Tests.
For Pakistan, Yasir Shah slammed his maiden Test century coming out to bat at number 8 by showing excellent resilience with the bat. He slammed a gritty 113 runs off 213 balls to post a 105-run stand for the seventh wicket with Babar and help Pakistan post a respectable total of 302 runs on the board. In the second innings, Shan Masood scored 68.
