Pat Cummins is the finest fast bowler in the business currently and will be next seen in action during the IPL 2020 in UAE. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emptied their pocket to buy premier Australia fast bowler in IPL 2020 auction. Pat Cummins was bought for Rs.15.50 crore from the base price of Rs.2 crore. In the process, he beat England all-rounder Ben Stokes’ price of Rs. 14.5 crore which he fetched from Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017, to become the most expensive overseas player in the history of IPL.

Cummins is currently the top ranked fast bowler in Test cricket and at an age near 30, every seamer start to face injury woes. Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar feels that Pat Cummins is an asset and will go all the way but on the contrary he feels that England fast bowler Jofra Archer will not last long. Akhtar also said that Archer has a pacer around 140 kmph which does not exceeds.

“There is a peak time for bowlers when they get 2-3 years where they can 100-150 wickets, then the bowler is bound to face a breakdown. A joint will stop functioning in the same manner after 200-400 overs. You will have to rest to get back the same energy. Jofra Archer’s pace is not going above 140 kmph, Pat Cummins is an asset but Jofra Archer, I don’t think will last,” Shoaib Akhtar said.

Cummins will feature for his second stint with KKR in the IPL.  Pat Cummins had earlier played for the franchise in 2014-15 and then only returned to the IPL in 2017 to ply his trade for the erstwhile Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).

Cummins has played 16 matches in the IPL, picking up 17 wickets at an average of 29.35.
