Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins removed Delhi Capitals’ openers cheaply inside the powerplay to keep Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on top in the IPL 2020 clash on Saturday. Ajinkya Rahane, who replaced Prtihvi Shaw as an opener for the match, was the first prey for Cummins followed by the in-form Shikhar Dhawan.
Rahane was sent back for first-ball duck on the first ball of Delhi Capitals knock while Dhawan lost his wicket to the costliest international player in the history of IPL in the third over the match. The southpaw failed to pick up the length of the delivery bowled by Cummins as it nipped back in to rattle his off stump. With that a fine run for Dhawan came to an end.
Dhawan had notched up the unbeaten scores of 106 and 101 runs against Kings XI punjab and Chennai Super Kings respectively. These consecutive centuries helped him to take up the second spot in the most runs scorer in the IPL 2020 most runs scorer table after beginning his season on a decent note.
Delhi Capitals have made a poor start to their chase of 195 runs against KKR. But they have plenty of young firepower to still take them home from this position. The capital franchise also have their one foot in the IPL 2020 playoffs stage. Last season they qualified for the playoffs for the first time in seven years.
