The veteran English batsman Paul Collingwood finally called curtains on his cricketing career. However, he is set to take the important role for England in the coaching panel. The flamboyant all-rounder has already given a lot of services for his nation as a player and now, he gets the chance to serve from the dugout.

The right-handed player will join the England coaching staff when the team travels to Sri Lanka in October. Meanwhile, he is confident of doing his role well and quoted that the new role is an honour for him.

Meanwhile, Paul Collingwood will be the contender to take up the head coach role for England as well. With current coach Trevor Bayliss set to leave his chair, Paul Collingwood will be a strong candidate for the head coach role.

“Any job that has the Three Lions involved, you are going to be interested in it. Any opportunity that would come up in those ranks, I don’t think you would ever be able to turn it down. I have spent a big part of my career playing for England and I know how much it means to the country,” Paul Collingwood quoted to The Sun.

”I’m not saying I deserve to walk in to a head coach’s role.  But certainly, if they came in and asked me if I would do it, I’m not going to say no. I have gained quite a lot of coaching experience over the last five winters with England, Scotland and UAE. I’ve had a big crash course in terms of assisting head coaches,” he added.

Best Chance to win ICC World Cup – Collingwood

Paul Collingwood further showed his optimistic side by adding that the current crop has got the best chance to lift the ICC World Cup 2019. He wants Trevor Bayliss to end with such a massive feat in his career.

“The improvement we have made since the last World Cup is phenomenal. We are in a great place and have some great players in that white-ball team. We have given ourselves every chance to go and do something special. This is our best opportunity to grow the game in England. If you can go and lift the World Cup in your home country, it will do wonders for the game,” he inferred.

However, as Paul Collingwood said, this is the best chance for England to seal the ICC World Cup. They have been trying for it over the years but have never lifted the coveted trophy.

I just love what I script. Over the years, Cricket has been my passion and crisping articles on it gives me an immense pleasure...Cheers...!!!
