England was quite brilliant in their recently-concluded One-day International series against Australia. They thrashed the Aussies 5-0 to record a historic whitewash.

Three Lions’ batsmen were quite spectacular in their backyard. Test skipper Joe Root was impressive with the bat.

However, the likes of Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow was just out of the ordinary. They struck some audacious shots and equally have been consistent all through the series as England wrapped it up in style.

Jos Buttler struck a sensational match-winning century in the final ODI. It ensured England to clinch the match from the jaws of defeat.

In addition, Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes was not part of the ODI side. Woakes isn’t expected to return any time soon. However, Stokes has a chance of getting picked for the limited-overs series against India.

England is slated to lock horns in three Twenty20 Internationals followed by the same number of ODI’s.

But the interim coach of England, Paul Farbrace, who is at the helm due to the absence of Trevor Bayliss reiterated Root won’t lose his place in the T20I side. He feels right-handed batsman Root gives the ideal flexibility to the setup.

Joe Root is a class act across formats:

“Absolutely. You need your best batsman. I can’t believe anybody else in our set-up would argue against that. He is world-class in all forms of the game. You do need nous. You do need people playing in different ways. There will be times when he is the outstanding player in a T20 game and gets us over the line,” AFP quotedFarbrace as saying.

“The best players adapt and score runs, whether it is 20 overs or 50 overs or Test match cricket, and he is without a doubt one of the finest players in the world. He could go anywhere from three to six – and it is nice having that flexibility and that cool, calm head,” he added

“Ben — the fact he is a three-in-one, he can bowl and he is the best fielder — you are going to bring him in as soon as he is available,” Farbrace told.

Paul Farbrace further heaped praises on Stokes and hopes to get him out in the field straight away.

Meanwhile, he was in all praise for Jos Buttler as well. The wicket-keeper batsman also had a stunning series scoring runs for fun.

“Jos played magnificently well… (but) you could easily argue a couple of others could have had a go – and maybe Halesy walked to the crease with a bit of a point to prove. You are going to go with the captain pretty much every time, because he takes the team on to the field,” he stated.
