Paul Valthaty was a bright young talent, who left a mark in the IPL, but failed to go to distance. During his time at IPL, he played for Rajasthan Royals before moving to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). He also faced the finest bowlers of all-time during his time and took some of them to the cleaners.

Among the finest bowlers he faced were the likes of Shane Warne and Shaun Tait. But Valthaty, to his credit, looked comfortable on facing them. The former KXIP batman, who had attacking approach, said that he had faced Shane Warne in the nets earlier when he used to be a part of Rajasthan Royals and shared some of the anecdotes from his experience.

“Shane Warne, I was with him at Rajasthan Royals in 2009, where we played a lot of practice games. We had a lot of net session. But once we Rajasthan, I was striking the ball really well and felt like I wanted to perform well against my former teams,” Paul Valthaty told Cricket Addictor in an exclusive interview.

“Shane Warne did not like bowling in the powerplay…. we had gameplans, just not looking at the bowler,” he added.

Valthaty played 23 matches in the IPL and scored 505 runs at an average nearly 23. He had one century, with the high score of 120, and two half-centuries to his name.
