The 18-year-old Pavan Shah was able to transfer himself in a short duration of one and a half month before taking to a new high. Pavan got a chance to showcase his skills on the tour of Sri Lanka. The young gun believes former Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is his inspiration.

However, Pavan could not make his first opportunity count in the first match in the Island nation. He fell cheaply in the first encounter that took place at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo.

However, in the stadium of Hambantota, the dynamic teen earned the praises from everyone after playing fantastic innings.

In Hambantota, Pavan scored 282 off 332 balls and helped his team to get an easy victory by an innings and 147 runs.

In the limited-overs format, he notched 210 runs at a formidable average of 42. To multiply his pleasure, Board of Control for Cricket in India names him as the skipper of India for the Under-19 Asia Cup.

Also, The U-19 Asia Cup will be underway at Dhaka and will commence from September 29.

Pavan is the replacement of Aryan Juyal, who faced an axe from the junior workforce. He is likely to lead India A in a quadrangular series as well. The series will involve India B Below-19, Nepal, and Afghanistan.

Pavan Shah is delighted and is over the moon soon after he heard the big news.

“I used to be shocked, slightly pleasantly stunned. I used to be in the midst of a following session, and certainly, one of my U19 teammates referred to as and congratulated me. He then informed me that I’d been chosen as India U19’s captain for the Asia Cup and Quadrangular sequence,” Shah informed CricTracker quickly after getting the information.

Pavan termed the former skipper of India, MS Dhoni as his inspiration. Additionally, he said Dhoni is an idol for a lot of cricketers especially the new budding ones. Besides this, he noted Dhoni as his favourite captain and vowed to study the methods of 37-year-old Dhoni.

“MS Dhoni is my favorite captain and can try to study from him. Cricket is an unpredictable sport, and I might maintain calm in strain conditions and try not to react,” he concluded.
