Maharashtra batsman Pavan Shah will lead India in the upcoming Under-19 Asia Cup. Shah has replaced Arjun Juyal as the skipper of the side.

Juyal has been dropped from the squad. The reason behind it is BCCI’s policy that does not allow players to play two Under-19 World Cups. As a result, 16-year old Juyal has lost his place in the team. Meanwhile, most of the players who toured Sri Lanka made it to the squad.

Shah, nonetheless, will also lead India A in the four-nation tournament. Shah had impressed during the tour of Sri Lanka. He had scored an aggressive double hundred in the second Youth Test against the home side. He scored 282 runs off just 332 balls to break several records.

On the other hand, Vedant Murkar will lead India B in the competition that also features Nepal and Afghanistan. It will be played in Lucknow from September 12 to 18.

India will be looking to do well in the upcoming competition. The Boys in Blue had a disappointing outing in the last edition in 2017. They had exited from the group stage after losing 2 of the 3 games Two-time winners, India had suffered shocking losses against Nepal and Bangladesh.

Afghanistan are the defending champions of the competitions. They had stunned Pakistan by 185 runs in the final to lift the trophy.

India, meanwhile, will be high on confidence after a good outing in Sri Lanka. They had won both the Youth Tests and had won the subsequent Youth ODI series 3-2.

The Asia Cup will start in Dhaka from September 29
