Umar Akmal was once again in the soup when he let his frustration out on the officials following his failure to pass the fitness test. As the controversy caught the attention of the media and the fans, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released a statement saying that it was a matter of ‘misunderstanding’.
Umar had landed himself in hot waters when he allegedly lashed out at a trainer who tried to measure his body fat during a traditional checkup at the NCA.
The fitness trainer faced the wrath from Umar when the Pakistani cricketer asked the medical counsellor: “Do you see any fat in my body”.
Umar is also believed to have removed his clothes while reacting angrily at the trainer as he was later slapped with accusations of misbehaving.
Umar Akmal offered his regrets:
A board statement on Wednesday said that Umar had “offered his regrets” to the PCB for his action, and he was in turn reprimanded and “reminded him of his responsibilities as a senior cricketer”.
PCB released a statement saying, “The Pakistan Cricket Board today concluded its proceedings into alleged misconduct involving Umar Akmal during a fitness test. After listening to all the parties involved, it was established that the incident happened due to a misunderstanding.
“After Umar Akmal offered his regrets for his actions, the PCB reprimanded him and also reminded him of his responsibilities as a senior cricketer,” it added.
This is not the first time for him to be reprimanded by the board. Umar was even banned for a few days for his conduct in the dressing room. He and his brother Kamran Akmal have been facing the fitness issues for a while now.
