His now wife caught him with someone else in room. Siddle said, he was in a course of his life, where he was living two lives — one of the party boy and another who tried to be a cricketer.

“That was when I broke down. Yes, I’d f***ed up, but I knew that I wanted her to be in my life,” Peter Siddle told the podcast. “I begged her to death, but also, I knew things had to change then.

“I was living two lives in a way. I was living the party boy life and trying to be a cricketer,” Peter Siddle said.

Peter Siddle recalled throwing away his career when he was at his peak. He also admitted to consume more than 25-30 drinks and driving for 50 minutes during the darkest days of his life.

“Not just a cricketer who rocks up on the weekend and plays 40 overs and then hangs out with the boys. I was an Australian cricketer, at the time pretty much close to the peak of my powers, and I was throwing it all away.”

In his darkest days, Siddle would drink more than “25, 30 drinks” and once drove for 50 minutes after spending a day drinking at a friend’s buck’s party.

Siddle announced his retirement from cricket after 11 years. He took 221 wickets fro 67 Tests. He will, however, continue to play for Victoria state and Twenty20 side Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League, along with English county cricket for Essex.
