In the wake of a ghastly terror attack on the CRPF jawans on February 14th in Pulwama, the Rajasthan Cricket Association has removed the pictures of Pakistan cricketers from the Sawai Mansingh Stadium’s photo gallery. On Thursday, a jeep carrying nearly 300 kgs of explosives ran into an Army convoy, resulting in a collision – as more than 42 CRPF jawans got martyred at the spot. Not only this, more than dozens of Army personals were left seriously injured. Later, the terrorist organisation, Jaish-eh-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attacks.

CCI Secretary asks India to boycott Pakistan at the WC

As the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi along with popular dignities across the country and the world shared grief over Pulwama attacks; there is no word of condolences from Pakistan’s PM, Imran Khan. Fumed over such a response from their neighbouring country, CCI secretary, Suresh Bafna asked the Indian team to boycott Pakistan at the 2019 World Cup.

Moreover, the Cricket Club of India covered the photo of Imran Khan – who had led Pakistan to their maiden World Cup triumph in 1992. Bafna, in his explanation, revealed it was their way of condemning the attacks on their jawans.

What future holds for India-Pakistan cricketing ties?

It is hard to predict what the future holds for India-Pakistan cricketing ties in the aftermath of the Pulwama attacks. As both the arch-rivals are listed to play on June 16th at Old Trafford, no decision has been made whether the game will go as per schedule or not.

However, India and Pakistan don’t play bilateral series, as they only meet in during the ICC events – Asia Cups, T20 World Cups, 50-over World Cups and Champions Trophy. The last time both faced off during Asia Cup 2018 in the UAE – where the Men in Blue found success on both the occasions.
