While Sachin Tendulkar was definitely one of the most daunting opponent with the bat on the cricket field, he never resorted to verbal duels in order to get his work done. The legendary batsman always let his bat do the talking. Even after retirement, Sachin has maintained the same persona on social media where most of the celebrities lose their cool on various occasions. However, Sachin Tendulkar has turned out to be an exception by a mile.

Just like his playing days, the cricket great makes sure that he does not let his emotions get the better of him. However, Piers Morgan, who was once involved in a Twitter feud with Virender Sehwag, realised that it is perhaps not at all a good idea to mess with Tendulkar even on Twitter. It all started with Morgan wishing Tendulkar on his birthday.  On April 24, Tendulkar turned 46 and Morgan made sure to wish the batting legend.

However, the birthday message from Morgan was a cheeky one as he tried to have a laugh at Tendulkar’s expense. Posting a selfie which Tendulkar took and featured Kevin Pietersen, Muttiah Muralitharan, Brian Lara as well as Morgan, the English journalist wrote:

But the ploy backfired as Tendulkar came up with a brilliant reply. Tendulkar, who is currently with Mumbai Indians as their mentor, took some to reply to the tweet but did not forget to give Morgan a fitting reply.

“Totally agree @piersmorgan ????! But @BrianLara, @KP24, #Murali and I combined could never MATCH your record of 123K (and still counting ..) tweets????” wrote Tendulkar.

Even Pietersen was amused by Tendulkar’s reply as he tweeted:

Tendulkar, meanwhile, retired as the most decorated batsman in the history of the game. He holds the record for most runs and centuries in both Tests and ODIs. Tendulkar has also played more Tests and ODIs than any other playing in the world.
