The 2011 World Cup winning player Piyush Chawla is confident to make his return to the Indian side. Chawla said that he is not under any kind of pressure regarding his comeback in the national side. Meanwhile, the leg-spinner has played only 25 One Day Internationals for India. However, the leggie had last played in the Indian colors back in 2011 against the Netherlands.

Since then, Chawla hasn’t played any kind of match for the national side. However, the leg-spinner is a consistent performer in the Indian Premier League. Piyush Chawla plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Twenty20 league.

Chawla hopeful of his return.

Piyush Chawla said, “I am not in any kind of pressure regarding my place in the national side. I am confident of making a comeback”.

However, Chawla said it is difficult to replace a leg-spinner like Anil Kumble. The Karnataka bowler went on to scalp 619 wickets in the red ball version and he was one of the finest bowlers in the world.

Chawla went on to say, “It is difficult to replace a player like Kumble. He gave a new life to leg-spin in the Indian cricket. He is always an inspiration to all the spinners. In fact, leg-spinners like Amit Mishra tried to make his place in the team. However, it was hard to replace Anil Kumble”.

Meanwhile, it is going to be a difficult road back for Piyush Chawla. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have done a fine job for the Indian team. They have not only kept the runs down but also they have picked up crucial wickets in the middle overs.

Thus, it is not going to be easy for Piyush Chawla to make his return. He will have to come up with really special performances in the domestic circuit to catch the eyes of the Indian selectors.
