Players Return Back Home As All IPL Franchises Suspend Pre-Tournament Camps

After the BCCI announced the postponement of the thirteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) by a fortnight, franchises have also taken a backward step. All the eight teams have suspended the pre-tournament camps ahead of the competition till further notice. Due to the cancellation, the players would also return home. Because of the deadly Coronavirus outbreak, significant events from all the sports have resulted in getting discarded or pushed forward.
The apex body of Indian cricket pushed the cash-rich league to mid-April. The tournament was initially supposed to commence on the 29th of March; however, the pandemic had forced them to call it off. Due to the increasing cases all over the world, the Indian authorities have restricted the visitors coming to India as well as citizens moving out. The infected cases in India currently stand at 114 along with a couple of deaths.
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s camp, whose training camp was scheduled to begin on the 21st of March have already deferred it. On Monday, RCB tweeted by saying that for the well-being of the stakeholders, they have decided to reschedule the training camp. They have also humbly requested to follow the guidelines of the Health Ministry and remain safe from the virus.

Three-time champions Chennai Super Kings, who began their training on the 2nd of March, have already suspended their camps. Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians have also called off their sessions. If the outbreak subsides by mid of April, the tournament would get underway by the 15th of April, should they get permission from the state governments.
