Test cricket, the purest format of the game, has lost its sheen. But for professional cricketers it still remains the most testing format. Over the years, some of the finest cricketers have graced this format, and etched their names in history.

Today, as the world fights against the novel coronavirus and the cricketing action is absent, let us have a look at players who have made most Test appearances at different venues.

Former England captain Alastair Cook and South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis are two of the greatest ambassadors of the longest format. The duo contributed from the fore for their respective nations. They share the record of playing 30 Test matches on different venues all around the world.

Test specialist VVS Laxman could save the team from losing a match during his hey days. His contribution in the longest format along side Rahul Dravid will always be cherished. Laxman featured in 134 Tests for India, scoring 8781 runs at an average of 45.97. He played 32 matches in different venues all around the world and made his presence felt in most of them.

Denesh Ramdin. Brian Lara. Shivnarine Chanderpaul together made one one of the fiercest batting combination for the West Indies. Moreover, Chanderpaul’s unorthodox batting stance became a major talking point in the cricketing circuit. He contributed important runs for the Caribbean nation at top of the order and played 35 matches in different venues.

Rahul Dravid made batting in the longest format of the game look easy. He could give hard time to bowlers of any stature. He scored over 13000 runs in the longest format of the game and is one of the greatest ambassadors. He also hit 36 centuries and 63 half-centuries in the longest format and played 36 matches across different venues.

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 51 centuries in Tests, has played the most number of matches on different venues – 42. He played 200 matches, scoring 15921 runs at an average of 53.78. He also scored 68 half-centuries in the longest format and added plenty of records to his name.
