Former cricketer Aamir Sohail believes Fakhar Zaman will play a vital role for Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup because of his ‘positive approach’ to batting.

Fakhar Zaman has been an absolute revelation for Pakistan. The attacking opener has not looked back since scoring a century against India in the Champions Trophy final last year. Zaman has come a long way since then. He has now cemented his spot in the team after impressing in his short career so far.

In just 18 innings, he has crossed the 1,000-run mark in ODIs. During the recent tour of Zimbabwe, he became the first Pakistani cricketer to score a double century in ODIs.  He had scored 515 in the series – the second-most by any batsman in a bilateral series. He was dismissed only twice and averaged an incredible 257.50. The impressive performance had helped him break a plethora of records.

And Aamir Sohail believes positive approach is the reason behind Zaman’s success.

“The reason behind Zaman’s success has to be his positive approach. No matter what the situation, he goes out and bats positively,” Sohail told PTI.

Sohail further said that the key for Zaman was playing aggressive cricket.

“He (Zaman) doesn’t allow any bulls to fight in his head and knows that going out and playing positive cricket is what’s best for him. That has been the key to his success,” emphasised Sohail, a veteran of 156 ODIs and 47 Tests.

Well, Pakistan would be hoping Fakhar Zaman continues his red-hot streak with the bat in the Asia Cup. Pakistan are one of the favourites to lift the title not only because of their form but also their familiarity with conditions in UAE. The Men in Green will open their campaign against Hong Kong in Dubai on September 16 in the continental show-piece. 3 days later, they will lock horns against arch-rivals India.
