India cricket team seamer, Ishant Sharma reached yet another milestone, as he overhauled Javagal Srinath to become the third-highest wicket-taker among the Indian fast bowlers in Tests.

Meanwhile, Ishant returned with four wickets, as India stamped their authority over the debutants Afghanistan. The hosts picked 20 wickets in two sessions to win the game by an innings and 262 runs.

While Jadeja topped the wickets charts with six wickets, Ashwin returned with five. The seamers also did a great job with the new balls providing early breakthroughs.

The Afghanistan batsmen failed to create any resistance thus losing the match within two days. However, it will be huge learning curve for them in the coming years in Tests.

Previously, Hardik Pandya’s responsible knock and Umesh Yadav’s clean hitting propelled India to 474 in the first essay.

However, Ishant continued his good form from the County, as he provided early wickets with the new ball.

He swung the ball both ways, as the Afghans struggled against him. Ishant’s four wickets in the match guided him to the third spot among Indian pacers for the highest number of wickets.

He left behind Srinath to be the third highest wicket-taker with 237 scalps. Kapil Dev (434) and Zaheer Khan (311) are the only bowlers ahead of him.

Pratima proud of Ishant Sharma

Meanwhile, Ishant’s wife Pratima Singh took to Instagram to laud her husband. She admitted she is proud of her husband on reaching another feat.

So proud of you !!! Before the match started the commentators predicted you to be the ‘chief destroyer’ and it was predicted right. You are now the third highest wicket taker as a fast bowler in Indian cricket history. @ishant.sharma29,” the post read.
