It was reported in the Mumbai Mirror newspaper that Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) owner Preity Zinta was involved in a heated argument with team director-cum-mentor Virender Sehwag after Punjab to failed to chase down a mediocre total set by Rajasthan Royals (RR) recently.

Barring a special knock from KL Rahul, no Punjab batsman could go past the double-figure mark. However, Preity has denied any such reports. She further blamed Mirror for spreading false allegations.

Taking to her twitter handle Preity wrote, “Mumbai Mirror gets it wrong again because we didn’t do Media net & pay them to write articles cuz that’s the only time they get it right. A conversation between Viru & me has been blown out of proportion & suddenly I’m a Villian! Wow!”

The report suggested Preity blamed Sehwag for the loss against Rajasthan. She blamed him for the tactics he used. Interestingly, Ravichandran Ashwin batted up the order despite experienced players like Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwary waiting in the wings.

“Against Rajasthan Royals, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was sent in at number three, ahead of more accomplished batsmen such as Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwari. The move backfired as Ashwin fell for a duck, and Preity launched into Sehwag for the decision,” a source to the Mumbai Mirror stated.

The source added that Sehwag played it cool at first. However, when Preity kept on blaming him he started providing the reason.

“However, when Preity continued to blame him, saying ‘unnecessary’ tinkering with the playing XI had led to a spate of defeats, Sehwag tried to reason with her,” the source said.

The same daily maintained Sehwag had a problem with Preity Zinta interfering in former’s job too much.

So much so, earlier report revealed Sehwag might leave the team midway through the season.

However, as per reports, it is learnt that Sehwag doesn’t want his players to lose focus. They are in a situation where they have realistic chances of making it to the playoffs. He doesn’t want to waste that.

We cannot come to a conclusion yet before Sehwag opens up regarding the recent news. Till now, there is still no clarification on the actual conversation.
