Have Talked To Prithvi Shaw About Cricket And Life Beyond It, Says Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar recently celebrated his 47th birthday. And, on the momentous occasion, wished galore for the ‘God of Cricket’ from all corners of the world.

Tendulkar enthralled the folklore with his batting for a quarter of a century and in the process inspired a plethora of budding cricketers to take up this beautiful game.

And, now that he has retired, the Master Blaster is passing on some invaluable tips to the current generation. In the past few months, Prithvi Shaw, the latest batting talent from the Mumbai school of batting, has revealed how his frequent conversations with the ‘God of Cricket’ has helped him get better.

Confirming the same, Sachin Tendulkar has said that he has had a number of conversations with the teenage sensation, not only on cricket but also on life beyond the field.

“Yes, it’s true. I have had a number of interactions over the years with Prithvi. He is a very talented player and I am happy to help him. I spoke to him about cricket and also about life beyond the cricket field,” Tendulkar told Press Trust of India (PTI).

When asked about the content of the conversation, Tendulkar said that he would like to keep it confidential.

“I believe if a youngster has approached me and sought guidance, there should be an element of confidentiality attached to it, at least from my side. So, I would not like to tell you what the discussions were,” the legendary batsman said.

But, Prithvi Shaw has been quite vocal about his conversations with Sachin in the recent past.

“That’s fine. If Prithvi wants to speak about it, it’s his choice.” Sachin added.

And, Prithvi Shaw isn’t the only youngster that Sachin Tendulkar has interacted with on a one-to-one basis.

“I have spoken and guided a lot of youngsters at an individual level. I have maintained that if anyone feels that I can be of any help in guiding them about their game, I am always open to the idea,” the maestro said.

Prithvi Shaw has been touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket, ever since he broke Sachin’s record of the highest individual score in a competitive game. Shaw recently revealed how his one-on-one conversations with the Master Blaster has helped him both on and off the field.

“He has had a big influence on me. I first met him when I was eight. He always tells me to play my natural game and according to the situation. Off the field also, he asked me to stay calm.” Prithvi Shaw had revealed.

Prithvi Shaw was recently seen during India’s tour of New Zealand where he made a comeback to the Test team besides debuting in white-ball cricket.
