Kolkata Knight Riders’ batsman Shubman Gill has had a promising IPL 2020 so far; however, is yet to make his mark. Shubman Gill’s highest score of 70 not out came against SunRisers Hyderabad; however, could not capitalise on the start against the same opponent in the ongoing clash in Abu Dhabi. India’s U-19 captain Priyam Garg took an outstanding catch to dismiss him.

After Rahul Tripathi perished by giving a brisk start, Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill took charge. Nitish Rana kept attacking SunRisers Hyderabad ace spin bowler Rashid Khan. However, Rashid Khan bounced back in his third over by removing Shubman Gill. The right-handed batsman attempted an inside-out shot against the leggie as Priyam Garg sprinted without taking his eyes off the ball and put his dive correctly, clinging on to the catch at long-off. After losing Gill, the two-time champions also lost Nitish Rana and Andre Russell in quick succession.

After winning the toss, SunRisers Hyderabad elected to field with both the teams making two changes. SunRisers Hyderabad brought in Abdul Samad and Basil Thampi for Khaleel Ahmed and Shahbaz Nadeem. At the same time, Kolkata Knight Riders decided to include Lockie Ferguson and Kuldeep Yadav for Chris Green and Prasidh Krishna. Both teams desperately need a victory under their belt after two back to back losses.
