Priyam Garg Taken To Hospital After Being Hit On The Neck

In an unfortunate incident, India Green batsman Priyam Garg received a dangerous blow on his neck while fielding at silly point on day four of his side’s Duleep Trophy match against India Red in Alur. Priyam Garg fell on the ground as the players rushed to check on him. Fortunately, he was conscious although he was understandably grimacing in pain.
The physio immediately came running out and applied an ice-pack to the injured area. An ambulance was brought on to the field and as a precaution, he was taken to hospital to run some tests. The horrific incident took place on the last ball of the 138th over of India Red’s innings, bowled by spinner Rahul Chahar.
Avesh Khan had rocked back to play a back foot punch and Garg came in the line of the ball. He tried to protect himself by taking an evasive action but it did not make much of a difference. The ball did go on to him him. Fortunately, his helmet had a neck guard, which softened the impact.

Talking about the game, India Red took a one-run lead thanks to Avesh’s first fifty in first-class cricket. Avesh went all out with the bat and slammed 64 from just 56 balls with the help of two fours and as many as seven sixes. He also added 73 for the tenth wicket with Sandeep Warrier. But despite trailing India Green look set to enter the final due to their higher quotient. They just need to avoid a big collapse in the second innings to secure their passage.
Recently, Australia star Steve Smith had also copped a blow to his neck during the second Ashes Test. Smith took his eyes off a delivery bowled by Jofra Archer and had to leave the field. He did came to bat again minutes later but was eventually substituted due to concussion.
