Proteas Veteran JP Duminy Calls Time on Domestic Career

The South African southpaw batsman Jean-Paul Duminy has called time on his domestic career. Duminy’s Cobras coach, Ashwell Prince has confirmed the news. In fact, the veteran batsman had earlier announced that the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 will be his swansong tournament. However, he will still continue to play the T20 format even after the World Cup. JP Duminy played in the domestic circuit for a long period of 19 years.
The left-hander who played for Cobras in the domestic circuit amassed 6774 runs in the 108 matches. JP Duminy scored his runs at a fine average of 46.08.

In List A cricket, he scored 7,408 runs in 269 matches at an average of 38.78. In T20 format, the experienced batsman accumulated 6,106 runs at an average of 37.46 in 252 matches.
In fact, JP Duminy made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2004. Furthermore, he made his domestic circuit debut when he was just 16 years old. Moreover, he is South Africa’s highest run-getter in the shortest format of the game.

JP Duminy didn’t have a successful Test career as he scored 2103 runs in the 46 Test matches. Thus, he scored his runs at a mundane average of 32.86. He had earlier hanged his boots from the red ball version.

The southpaw batsman has thus far scored 5047 runs in 194 One Day Internationals at an average of 37.39. Duminy will like to bring his best to the table in the forthcoming ODI showpiece.
Furthermore, the left-hander has so far scored 1934 runs in 81 T20 Internationals at a fine average of 38.68. Moreover, the off-spinner has scalped 131 wickets in his International career across the three formats of the game.

Meanwhile, South Africa will begin their World Cup campaign against hosts England on 30th May at Kennington, Oval. South Africa will look to end their World Cup hoodoo and Duminy will like to play a key role in his team’s success.
