Quadrangular Series, India B vs South Africa A: Manish Pandey Inspire India B to a 30-Run Win

Both the Indian teams, India A and India B, registered comprehensive victories in the quadrangular series opener against Australia A and South Africa A, respectively to start the tournament on high.

In the 2nd match of the day in quadrangular series, it was India B who defeated South Africa by 30 runs under D/L method. Prasid Krishna and Shreyas Gopal were the stars with the ball, bagging four and three wickets, respectively.

In the batting department, it was Manish Pandey who scored a magnificent 95 to take his team over the finishing line.

It was India B skipper, Manish Pandey who won the toss and put the visitors into bat. Rudy Second and Gihahn Cloete were dismissed in quick succession by Prasid Krishna and Siddharth Kaul, respectively. South Africa lost the first four wickets for just 57 runs.

However, it was Farhaan Behardien and Senuran Muthusamy who shared a partnership of 104 runs which got South Africa back on track.

While Muthusamy scored 55, Behardien chipped in with an impressive 43. However, it was never going to be enough in front of a quality Indian batting line-up. Dane Paterson struck a quickfire 25 off 15 deliveries to propel the Proteas to a score of 231. However, they couldn’t face their all 50 overs and were bowled out in 47.3 overs.

Prasid Krishna and Shreyas Gopal were the bowling stars 

For India, Prasid Krishna bagged four while Shreyas Gopal chipped in with three.

It was a great bowling performance from the Men in Blue. India didn’t begin well and lost the wickets of Mayank Agarwal and Deepak Hooda in quick succession. From there on, it was a partnership of 89 runs between Shubman Gill and Manish Pandey got India B back on track.

Gill struck six fours during his knock of 42 off 46 deliveries before departing off Tabraiz Shamsi. Captain Manish Pandey played a fantastic knock and found the boundaries whenever required. He couldn’t reach a century but saw India B through with an unbeaten 95 off 105 deliveries. His innings studded with nine fours and a six.

Kedar Jadhav and Ishan Kishan scored 23 and 24, respectively, as India B reached 214/5 when the match was interrupted due to rain. However, under the D/L method, India was 30 runs ahead and hence won the match. For the Proteas, Dane Paterson bagged a couple of wickets.
