The Board of Control for Cricket in India, on Saturday, confirmed 13 positive COVID-19 cases among the touring party for the IPL in UAE. The cricket board also confirmed that out of the 13 cases, two are players. However, the BCCI did not name the players.
“13 personnel have tested positive of which 2 are players. All the affected personnel as well as their close contacts are asymptomatic and have been isolated from other team members. They are being monitored by the IPL Medical Team,” the board said in a statement.
As per media reports, both the players are from the Chennai Super Kings. Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad have reportedly tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus.
Rahul Chahar confirms:
While neither the BCCI nor the Chennai Super Kings confirming the identity of the players, Rahul Chahar pretty much confirmed that his brother Deepak Chahar is one of the players who has tested positive for the virus.
The Mumbai Indians spinner took to Twitter to wish his cousin a “speedy recovery” and said he hoped he would “get well soon”. Posting a picture of Deepak Chahar, Rahul wrote:
“Stay strong brother hoping for your speedy recovery and all my prayers for you get well soon @deepak_chahar9”

The three-time champions would be praying that Deepak Chahar recovers as soon as possible and they start their training. The right-arm pacer has been an integral part of the team since the past two seasons.
Chennai Super Kings, on Saturday, suffered another blow when their all-time leading run-scorer and batting mainstay Suresh Raina pulled out of the competition citing personal reasons. IPL 2020 is scheduled to start on September 19 while the final is on November 10.
