Rahul Dravid's Son Scores 150 in a One-Day Match
A couple of days ahead of his 45th birthday, legendary batsman, Rahul Dravid got a special gift from none other than his son Samit Dravid.
On Tuesday (January 9), Dravid junior played brilliant innings of 150 in the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s (KSCA) BTR Cup Under-14 tournament (Group I, Division II).
Along with Samit, Aryan Joshi, son of former India spinner Sunil Joshi, also starred with the bat, scoring 154 as their team, Mallya Aditi International School scored a mammoth 500 for five in the allotted 50 overs and went on to win the game by 412 runs.
Vivekananda School never looked in contention to chase down the improbable total and were all out for a paltry 88 inside 28 overs.
Dravid and Joshi would surely be delighted to see their sons following in their footsteps. Both of them had combined for Karnataka’s success during their playing career, and now their sons are also looking set to replicate their efforts.
Dravid is the head coach of India’s Under-19 and A teams and is currently in New Zealand for the Under-19 World Cup while Joshi is with the Bangladesh team as their spin consultant.
Last year, Samit hogged the attention after slamming 125 with 22 fours and a six in an Under-14 game. Before that, the bespectacled boy had grabbed the attention on several occasions with his runs-tally in inter-school tournaments. One can take a measure of how talented the youngster is from the fact he has been lauded by none other than the great Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
