Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja, on Saturday, named an interesting side while picking an ODI playing XI out of the India and Pakistan players he has played with or against and those he has seen since retiring from the game.
Picking just eleven players from two of the most successful cricket nations is never an easy task but Ramiz Raja’s work was made easier by his son. The former batsman revealed how his son’s tip helped him to pick the team without much difficulty.
“I briefly discussed this with my son,” said Ramiz Raja on Facebook live video chat on Sony Ten Pit Stop with former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar. “It’s a massive situation to be in, how to assemble a star caste of some giants of the game.
“But he said no it’s very simple, you have Pakistan bowlers and Indian batsmen in the line-up and you get a fantastic India-Pakistan XI.”
Keeping up with his son’s suggestion, Ramiz Raja picked only Indian batsmen in the team as well as an Indian bowler. He went with Virender Sehwag and Gavaskar as the openers of star-studded side. Current Indian captain Virat Kohli was picked as the no.3 followed by Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni.

The ex-cricketer then picked Pakistan’s only World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan in the team. Imran was also named the captain of the team. Among the bowlers, Ramiz Raja picked Anil Kumble as the only Indian while the others were Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Saqlain Mushtaq.
