Ranji Trophy 2018-19: Nitish Rana To Lead Delhi, Ishant Sharma Included

One of the giants in Domestic circuit Delhi announces their squad for the upcoming season of Ranji Trophy 2018-19. After Gautam Gambhir officially denying the captaincy, Nitish Rana was asked to lead the side. Meanwhile, the stalwart player Ishant Sharma also finds a place in the side.

The consistent performer in the previous season Dhruv Shorey was named a vice-captain for the upcoming season. In an earlier season, Delhi asked Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma to look after the captaincy duty. However, with the hectic international schedule on the cards, Delhi named Nitish Rana to lead the side.

Ishant Sharma to play tournament opener:

Ishant Sharma will be available to play the first game of the season after suffering the ankle injury in England. Meanwhile, Anuj Rawat will be taking the wicketkeeper role in absence of Rishabh Pant, who will be busy in plying his trade for Team India across the formats.

Meanwhile, Unmukt Chand has been dropped from the team for the first game of the tournament. Surprisingly, Delhi isn’t considering Unmukt, as the regular option to stay in the playing XI. Another notable absentee has been Navdeep Saini. Meanwhile, Kulwant Khejroliya will lead the pace attack.

The senior player Gautam Gambhir and the consistent performers Hiten Dalal, Himmat Singh are named in the squad as well. Vikas Mishra, Simarjit Singh and Vaibhav Rawal also find a place in the squad.

Delhi will open their campaign against Himachal Pradesh from October 12 at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. The match will also have a live telecast. Meanwhile, the tension regarding the Pollution in the city remains a constant threat.
