India’s limited-overs vice-captain, Rohit Sharma believes Afghanistan‘s spinning duo in the form of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman will be a major force to reckon with in the longest version of the game.

Meanwhile, India will face debutant Afghanistan in a One-off Test match commencing on June 14 at Bengaluru. This will be Afghans first Test since acquiring the Test status in June, last year.

Moreover, both the spinners have stamped their authority in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) by bamboozling top-notch batters.

Rashid led Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) bowling department, however, lost in the grand finale.

On the other hand, Mujeeb made a long-lasting impression in his debut season in India for the Mohali-based outfit Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Although Punjab had one of the worst seasons, Mujeeb impressed one and all.

Rashid and Mujeeb will be a force: Rohit Sharma

Rohit, who had a very average time in the recently concluded IPL for Mumbai Indians (MI) feels the Afghanistan spinners will have a great impact in Test cricket.

The top-order batsman Rohit also talked highly of Rashid and Mujeeb and lauded their control over the ball. He also added that it will be a challenge for the Indian batsmen to face them even at their backyard.

I think Rashid and Mujeeb will be a force in Test cricket. Both of them have so much control in where they want to pitch the ball and if the pitch has anything to offer, they will be dangerous. We have capable batsmen who can handle spin well. But it will be a challenge for our batsmen to face their spin,” he told India Today.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan has named four spinners in their 16-member Test squad. They will be desperate to put in a good show against top-ranked Test side.

Post this Test series, Afghanistan will play a three-match Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh in India.
