In what has come as another hand of support to Afghanistan cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) secretary Amitabh Choudhury has announced that any international team touring India will play at least one practice game against Afghanistan.

The arrangement will help in the development of cricket for Afghanistan. The decision is taken especially because Afghanistan doesn’t have proper cricketing facilities in their country.

The news was announced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). The revelation was made by Amitabh.

Moreover, the BCCI secretary is in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan to discuss regarding the bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries.

India will host Afghanistan in a historic One-off Test from June 14 to June 18 at Bengaluru. It will be the first-ever Test match for Afghanistan. They will be eager for an impressive start to their Test campaign.

Choudhary stated that the additional arrangement will help increase the morale and self-confidence of Afghanistan. They are yet to start their journey in Test cricket.

“Afghanistan is now a full member of ICC and we also enjoy cordial relations with BCCI which will be further strengthened as we strive to work together to further develop the game in the country,” ACB Chairman Atif Mashal was quoted by PTI.

“Cricket will further strengthen ties between the two countries and deliver a message of peace. Afghan players are well known and loved in India because of their participation in IPL which will increase in the coming years,” BCCI acting secretary said.

Meanwhile, Mashal thanked BCCI for providing Afghanistan with the second venue for home matches.

Dehradun has been selected as a home venue for Afghanistan along with the one at Greater Noida. Afghanistan will host Bangladesh in a three-match Twenty20 series at their adopted home in Dehradun.
