Afghanistan leg-spinning sensation Rashid Khan has expressed his delight at the prospect of representing World XI in a charity Twenty20 International game against the Windies which is scheduled to be held at Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London on Thursday (May 31) night.

Well, it will surely be a pretty exciting game given the fact that there will be some great T20 players on display. While former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi will be returning to the field after the retirement as a captain of the World XI side.

The defending T20I champions Windies will be led by Carlos Brathwaite.

Rashid has been in top class form. He finished the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) as the joint second highest wicket-taker along with his Sunrisers Hyderabad’s teammate Siddharth Kaul.

Moreover, the list was headed by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) medium pacer Andrew Tye. However, the most impactful bowler was arguably Rashid, who made top-class batsmen look pretty silly.

The 19-year-old Rashid kept bamboozling them with some brilliant variations and by the time the batsmen were able to pick him, they have already gone back to the pavilion.

It was a single-handed effort from Rashid in the Qualifier second against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) which helped them go through to the grand finale. His all-round showing also helped him to earn the Man of the Match Award.

The Afghanistan star Rashid smashed a quickfire 10-ball 34 to take Hyderabad – to a commendable total of 174. Then with the ball in hand, Rashid picked up three crucial wickets to peg back the hosts.

It was world class bowling from the No. 1 spinner Rashid in the shortest format of the game. Even in today’s game, he remains a big factor for World XI and the Windies batters will look to play him out in his spell of four overs.

Rashid felt honoured at the prospect of representing World XI.

“Feeling honoured and proud to be participating in the charity match. It will be for a noble cause and I am looking forward to it,” Rashid told media.

There will be some big names on display later today (Thursday). Dinesh Karthik and Mohammed Shami are the two Indian players who will be part of the World XI squad.
