Rashid Khan Reveals How it is to Bowl Under Muttiah Muralitharan

Afghanistan young sensation Rashid Khan recently revealed his experience to bowl under the watchful eyes of legendary Muttiah Muralitharan.

Pertinently, Khan received insights from the Sri Lankan veteran off-spinner when he represented Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Rashid has shown an upward swing owing to an improvement graph in the last two years.

In fact, the 19-year-old Afghan spinner is one of the best spinners in the shortest format of the game. The mystery spinner has scaled new heights in his young days of the International career.

In fact, Rashid received praise from Sachin Tendulkar during the eleventh edition of IPL. Tendulkar gave the tag of the best spinner in the shortest format of the game to the Afghan spinner.

Rashid Khan gave credit to the former off-spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan.

“He is a living legend, I grew up watching him rattle batsmen. Whenever I would go to Murali sir during nets, he would tell me I had been bowling superbly and he doesn’t need to tell me anything. Once he said I was bowling with much more effective than he ever had in his career. He also said the skills I have at this age are higher than his. That was a big compliment. He always told me to enjoy cricket and believe in my bowling skills,” Rashid told Hindustan Times.

Rashid has achieved great success in the last couple of years. The mystery leg-spinner Rashid’s life has completely taken a U-turn after his success at the topmost level. Rashid added that his dream has come true.

Rashid went on to add, “The response back home has been overwhelming. I have got so much love in India. My life has changed in the last two years. I never dreamt I would be playing for my country, top T20 leagues and bowling at top-batsmen of the world this early. But it looks like dreams do come true. Life is all about the unexpected turn of events”.

The talismanic spinner Rashid added that he is looking forward to his maiden opportunity in the upcoming historic Test match against India. Afghan will make their red ball form debut on June 14 in Bengaluru.

Sunrisers spinner added, “It is going to be a great contest for Afghanistan, taking on a top team like India. I might have done well in T20 and ODI cricket but Test cricket will be new for me. I am looking forward to testing myself in the longer format and bowl according to situations and wicket and execute plans session-wise.”
