Rashid Khan Speaks On BCCI Not Allowing Indian Players To Play Euro T20 Slam

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) continues to maintain its hard stand on overseas T20 leagues. Ever since the inception of the Indian Premier League (ICC), the India cricket board has made sure that no active player from the country is allowed to play in T20 leagues outside India. Recently, Yuvraj Singh became the first male cricketer to be picked up by an overseas T20 team.

The veteran batsman was picked in the Global T20 Canada League. However, for playing outside India, Yuvraj had to retire from the game. The World Cup-winning player announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket to obtain a Non objection certificate from the BCCI. Manpreet Gony will also play in the league but he too had to announce his retirement from international and domestic cricket for the same.

The BCCI is unlikely to allow its active players to play in overseas T20 leagues any time soon. And Afghanistan star Rashid Khan has said he would miss his Indian pals in the upcoming inaugural Euro T20 Slam. Rashid Khan, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, also said that he hopes some of them would be there to take part in the tournament.

“Definitely. Always great to play and be with them. Playing alongside them. Hopefully, we will get some Indian players…I think it’s allowed to have those players who retired from international cricket. I have enjoyed playing alongside them in the IPL,” Rashid Khan told IANS when asked if he would miss the Indian players.

Talking about the Euro T20 Slam, it will get underway from August 30 and will culminate on September 22. Six teams will participate in the inaugural event. Rashid Khan will play for Rotterdam Rhinos where former South Africa opener Herschelle Gibbs has been appointed as the head coach.
