We came across many rags to riches stories in the Indian Premier League. It seems like yet another such story is on the way ahead of the upcoming IPL 2019. Rasikh Salam, the 17-year-old prodigy, who stole the limelight with his premium fast bowling gets shortlisted for the auctions with a base price of INR 20 Lakhs.

Meanwhile, the fast bowler is the youngest son of Ab Salam Dar, a teacher by profession. The youngster started his cricket at the very early age to give his talent a shot. However, he couldn’t do well, as he got rejected in the selections for Under-19.

However, Rasikh never let himself down, as he tried his heart out whenever there are selections conducted by the board. In one of those, the Indian fast bowler, Irfan Pathan identified his pace and asked him to meet after the practice session, which turned his life.

“Before attending the camp, I had seen Irfan Pathan on the television screen. I was very excited to see and meet him,” Rasikh recalls. When I was given the ball, I told myself that this is the day to prove myself. I just bowled three balls and Irfan called me, he said, “Hey, how can somebody of such a young age bowl this quick, what’s your name?” As I replied, he took me with him to Parvez Bhaiya (Parvez Rasool) and asked me to meet him after the conclusion of the camp.” he said.

“Irfan Bhai, Parvez Bhaiyya, and Milaph sir helped me a lot. I used to practice with them in the nets and that made me an entirely different bowler,” Rasikh quoted.

He will surely make it big – Irfan Pathan

Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan quoted the youngster has got all the required ingredients in him to make it big on the international stage. Pathan added he was surprised to know that Rasikh hasn’t featured in state-level.

“During the shorter period of my reign here, I have been able to recognize a player who surely will make it big. It is surprising that he hasn’t played any state-level cricket yet,” Irfan Pathan had said about Rasikh in an interview.

Well, it seems like yet another fast bowler is arriving in the ranks for Indian national cricket team. Hopefully, the youngster gets the buyer and will deliver his best in the upcoming IPL 2019 edition.
