There is a new story every day on the future of former India skipper MS Dhoni. The speculation on his retirement is on an all-time high. However, head coach of Indian team Ravi Shastri has urged the fans and followers to keep calm and not speculate on Dhoni’s career. He also asked the fans to wait till the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League to know his future course of action.
MS Dhoni has made him unavailable from cricket since India’s ouster from the semifinals of the ICC World Cup. The cricketer from Ranchi had poor returns in the premier tournament in England and decided to take a sabbatical. During this period, the veteran cricketer worked with the Army in the month of August. He also played an amateur golf tournament in the USA and took part in a charity football match.

Ravi Shastri opens up on Dhoni’s future
He recently started his training in Ranchi with Jharkhand’s U-23 team but is unlikely to return to action soon. In the wake of this, Ravi Shastri has urged the fans to wait till IPL 2020 to know about MS Dhoni’s future. Team India head coach feels the upcoming IPL will play a significant role in deciding Dhoni’s fate. Dhoni will turn up for Chennai Super Kings and will look forward to the fourth IPL title.
“It all depends on when he starts playing and how he is playing during the IPL. What are the other people doing with the wicket-keeping gloves or what is the form of those players as opposed to Dhoni’s form. The IPL becomes a massive tournament because that could be the last tournament after which more or less your 15 is decided,” Shastri told IANS in an interview.

Meanwhile, Team India are currently auditioning for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia next year. They are trying out different combination as the Men in Blues are eyeing their second World Cup trophy after the inaugural edition in 2007. Ravi Shastri feels they will continue this procedure till IPL 2020 after which there will be a fair idea of the top 15 for the premier competition.
“There might be one player who might be there and thereabouts in case of an injury or whatever. But your team I would say would be known after the IPL. What I would say is rather than speculating of who is where, wait for the IPL to get over and then you are in a position to take a call on who are the best 17 in the country,” he concluded.
