There is no doubt about the fact that team India is playing a sensational brand of cricket across all 3 formats of the game in the recent past. They have produced some quality players in the last few years which has enabled them to be in a great shape for overseas tours. They began the tour of England with a victory in the T20I series. However, the home team showed their resilience and class in the 50 overs format by claiming it by a 2-1 margin.

The Test series is slated to be played in just a day’s time will be played at Birmingham. The combination of Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli has worked in India’s favour. The duo gel quite well with each other and both have wanted the team to play fearless cricket. Shastri’s message to the Indian players has been playing fearless cricket all the time.

Despite losing the Test series in South Africa, they played a fearless brand of cricket and bagged all 60 wickets in a series. They had a few of sessions which led to their defeats in the first two Tests. However, they bounced back strongly on a difficult pitch which saw them winning the Johannesburg Test. Shastri believes that the reason India can win the upcoming series is they have a quality bowling attack who can bag all the 60 wickets.

Wants India to be the best travelling team: Ravi Shastri

“I cannot divulge the details, but the focus of the chat was to carry on the good work we have done overseas. We have done exceptionally well in white-ball cricket. We showed some very good signs in South Africa as far as the red ball is concerned. We want to carry that forward. The challenge for us is to be consistent in the red-ball format overseas.

We believe we have the potential to be one of the best travelling teams. At the moment, there is no side in the world that travels properly. You can see what is happening to South Africa in Sri Lanka. We know our scorelines in England before this tour: 4-0 [2011], 3-1 [2014]. We want to do much better than that,” Shastri said.

“We have a bowling attack that can take 20 wickets. We are not bothered by what conditions we play in. We have the variety but we need to execute our plans in the best possible manner. And bat well, which is important. Our batting let us down in South Africa,” Shastri further added.
