Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is perhaps amongst the best spin-bowlers as of today. Having made his debut in 2011, Ravichandran Ashwin has successfully replaced Harbhajan Singh as India’s first-choice off-spinner in whites. While the 33-year old has bowled many outstanding spells throughout his career, during a question and answer session on Twitter, he named his best so far.

With 365 wickets in 71 Tests so far, Ravichandran Ashwin remains in line be the most successful off-spinner for India. Only Harbhajan Singh remains ahead with 417 while Anil Kumble tops the list with 619 scalps. Ashwin has also played limited-overs cricket so far; however, he has not featured in one since 2017. The Indian selectors have preferred leg-spinners over finger spinners for white-ball cricket since.

When asked by a fan about his best Test-match bowling performance, the Tamil Nadu off-spinner named the one delivered in Galle in 2015 on the morning. The off-spinner took six wickets in the first innings of that Test as India bowled out Sri Lanka for 183. Ashwin also removed Kumar Sangakkara in both the innings, who featured in the final Test match of his illustrious career.

The veteran cricketer followed his six-wicket haul with another four wickets in the second innings. However, Dinesh Chandimal’s scintillating hundred gave India a tricky chase of 175 in the fourth innings. In response, India could manage only 112, losing the Test by 63 runs. However, the tourists won the next two Tests to take the three-match rubber as Ashwin earned the man of the series for 21 scalps.
