Ravindra Jadeja Among 19 Sportpersons Nominated For Arjuna Award

India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been nominated for the Arjuna Award by the award selection committee on Saturday. Jadeja is among the 19 sportspersons who have been nominated for the prestigious award. The Indian all-rounder has thus far played 156 ODIs, 42 T20Is and 41 Tests for India.

The southpaw batsman has scored 2128 runs in the 50-overs version. The left-hander has only scored 135 runs in the shortest format of the game. Furthermore, Jadeja has amassed 1485 runs in the longest version of the game. He has also scalped 178 wickets in ODIs, 192 in Tests and 32 in T20Is for Team India.

Jadeja gets nominated for consistent performances.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja is well known for his gun fielding for the team as he is a livewire. He has a rocket arm and he is considered as one of the best fielders in the world. On the other hand, the left-hander had scored a blistering knock of 77 runs off just 58 balls in the semifinal contest against New Zealand in the World Cup.

India had their backs against the wall as they were tottering at 5-3. However, Jadeja’s knock gave a ray of hope to the Indian team. In fact, Jadeja hasn’t been a regular in the white-ball format in the last two years since Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have grabbed their opportunities.

Meanwhile, Para-athlete Deepa Malik has been nominated for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna along with wrestler Bajrang Punia.

On the other hand, Indian skipper Virat Kohli was awarded Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award last year. In fact, India’s off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was also expected to get the Khel Ratna award but the authorities messed up the paperwork and Harbhajan’s paper reached the office after the deadline.

Jadeja is currently with the Indian team on the tour of the West Indies. The left-hander was part of the ODI and T20I series, which India won convincingly. India will now play two Test matches against the Windies with first one commencing from 22 August.
