Ravindra Jadeja Posts A Cryptic Message After Being Ignored From ODI Squad

Ravindra Jadeja, once again, took a subtle dig at the Indian selectors for ignoring him from the India ODI side for the series against South Africa. Jadeja’s post in social media indicated that he is not at all happy with the decision of selectors to ignore him again. Here is the what Jadeja wrote –

Jadeja and Ashwin were the permanent members of the Indian team in all the formats of the game until India tour of West Indies after the ICC Champions Trophy. Selectors decided to rest the duo for the Sri Lanka series and from then, they are yet to play any limited overs contest for the Indian team.

Jadeja though was called in the team as a replacement for Axar Patel for the first three ODIs against Australia but did not play any game. The spin duo missed the complete home season for India (in limited overs cricket).

Selectors cannot be solely blamed for this as Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have done well in the absence of the Ashwin and Jadeja, a fact which was highlighted by MSK Prasad, the Chief selector, after the squad for South Africa ODI series was announced.

There are still doors open for Ashwin and Jadeja to make a comeback as they both will be playing in the Vijay Haare Trophy once they return from South Africa after the end of the Test series. If Chahal and Kuldeep can impress in South Arica, the wait of Ashwin and Jadeja to make a comeback in the limited overs side will increase while they would take no time to return once Chahal and Kuldeep fail to deliver.

Meanwhile, the selectors announced the ODI squad for South Africa series. There were no surprises in the squad. Selectors deepened the pace attack with the inclusion of Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur. Kedar Jadhav made a comeback to the ODI side as well and replaced Washington Sundar.
